About the role

Technical lead individual contributor role responsible for the architecture, design, and delivery of the Tetra Apps platform runtime and developer experience. Owns sprint planning, architecture, security, observability, and production readiness for a multi-tenant containerized app platform that powers applications on Tetra OS.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical architecture of the Tetra Apps platform: how applications are developed, packaged, provisioned, routed, authenticated, isolated, observed, upgraded, and retired.
  • App runtime: design and evolve the app proxy and routing layer, container provisioning and lifecycle on ECS, per-app identities, and install/upgrade/rollback paths for multi-tenant cloud and customer-hosted environments.
  • App security: design tenant and per-user data boundaries, delegated authorization, secrets handling, browser security, server-side enforcement of approval and install gates; threat-model a platform running external code.
  • App ops: production readiness including metrics and tracing, SLIs/SLOs, alerting, incident runbooks, capacity and cost planning; collaborate on IaC and multi-tenant deployment.
  • App developer experience: own templates, SDKs (TypeScript and Python), CLI, local development loop, and documentation; optimize secure/fast development paths.
  • Plan and deliver: run sprint and quarterly planning with product manager; scope, estimate, sequence, and track commitments; surface tech debt paydown in planning and ROI discussions.
  • Be the design authority: lead design reviews, write architecture RFCs and decision records, participate in weekly architecture review, mentor engineers through reviews and pairing.
  • Stay full stack: ship code across TypeScript/Node.js services, React web apps, AWS architecture, client SDKs, and IaC/CI/CD and automation.
  • Support the field directly: assist field engineers and customers in building and debugging apps, and translate learnings into platform improvements.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience including time as technical lead or architect of a platform used by external teams.
  • Shipped and operated a multi-tenant application platform or internal developer platform in production with external users.
  • Deep, hands-on container experience: Docker image pipelines, ECS or equivalent, networking, service discovery, scaling, cost.
  • Security engineering focus: IAM, least privilege, identity propagation, tenant isolation, secret management; secured multi-tenant systems for untrusted code.
  • Experience adapting to AI-enabled development and producing production-grade software with AI-assisted processes.
  • Ability to apply AI to production software generation while maintaining correctness, security, and architectural fit.
  • Strong AWS production experience: ECS, ALB/NLB, VPC, IAM, KMS, CloudWatch, S3, Lambda; IaC with CloudFormation or equivalent.
  • Full-stack fluency: TypeScript/Node.js backend, React frontend with possible module federation/micro-frontend, Python for SDKs/tools.
  • API-first design: REST/OpenAPI, versioning, backward compatibility, clear error contracts.
  • Observability: OpenTelemetry, SLI/SLO definitions, distributed tracing.
  • Experience running sprint/quarterly planning, writing design docs, migration plans, and driving commitments through influence and authority.
  • Experience operating and improving live production systems without breaking customers.
