About the role

Staff Software Engineer, Mobile QA leading the greenfield native rewrite of Coinbase's retail mobile app (Swift/Kotlin) and redefining mobile release quality gates and QA infrastructure across ~30 product teams.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical strategy for mobile QA infrastructure across the native rewrite, designing operational practices that lower maintenance while raising release quality.
  • Build and scale automated test systems for recurring regression testing and define what gets automated vs. what stays human across regression, performance validation, and release readiness gating.
  • Lead the QA readiness workstream for phased rollout, driving metrics, resourcing, and operations.
  • Guide investment in testing resources and optimize testing workload as quality gains evolve.
  • Partner with engineering leadership, product, and design to define SLOs and quality dashboards for rollout speed decisions.
  • Shape the QA onboarding playbook for teams transitioning to native, and mentor L3-L5 engineers on test architecture, native debugging, and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience with deep expertise in mobile test infrastructure, including architecting automated regression systems for native iOS and Android at scale.
  • Track record of defining and delivering test infrastructure strategy that other engineering teams depend on.
  • Strong proficiency in Swift and Kotlin with ability to architect test frameworks and enforce compile-time quality constraints.
  • Experience managing QA processes during large-scale migrations or platform transitions, including dual-codebase parity validation and phased rollout quality gates.
  • Demonstrated ability to build alignment with cross-team partners on quality standards, testing strategy, and release criteria.
  • Experience using generative AI responsibly with human oversight to improve workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
