Senior Data Scientist, Product
About the role
Senior Data Scientist in Coinbase's consumer org focused on experimentation, analytics, and advanced modeling to improve customer experience across consumer products. Partners with Product, Engineering, and Design to influence roadmap and translate insights into product strategy and shipped improvements. Remote-first role based in the UK.
Responsibilities
- Conduct analysis and deep dives on ambiguous problems for the business, yielding insights and recommendations to guide decision making.
- Own a broad scope of data and metrics, from core logging to data visualizations.
- Guide code reviews, provide SQL and Python expertise, and create well-maintained ETL jobs.
- Maintain a high bar for statistical rigor, ensuring experimentation and causal analyses build confidence with stakeholders.
Qualifications
- BA/BS in a quantitative field (e.g., Math, Stats, Physics, or Computer Science) with ≥5+ years of relevant experience or a PhD with ≥3+ years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated experience in driving impactful data science projects addressing ambiguous problem spaces
- Ability to influence external stakeholders by translating data learnings into compelling stories
- Practical expertise in applying complex modeling frameworks to business problems
- Professional experience with SQL and Python
- Experience with digital products in iterative development cycles
- Strong alignment with Coinbase core values: clear communication, positive energy, continuous learning, efficient execution
- Demonstrates ability to responsibly use generative AI tools in daily workflows and apply human-in-the-loop practices to deliver business-ready outputs
