About the role

Senior Engineering Manager to lead and grow an engineering team in Bengaluru, driving technical direction, architecture, and core platform development for a new AI-focused platform built on MongoDB. Hybrid work model in Bengaluru.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, quality, and continuous improvement
  • Drive the architectural vision for the platform across public clouds, private clouds, and on-premise
  • Collaborate with product managers, program managers, design & analytics teams to define, prioritize and deliver new features
  • Take responsibility for planning and execution of major features and raise delivery risks
  • Own monitoring, operations, and maintenance of the systems your team develops
  • Remove technical obstacles, coordinate with other teams on dependencies, and prioritize team well-being
  • Contribute to planning for organizational growth, including allocation of engineering resources, and participate in hiring and project assignment

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience building distributed systems and/or foundational cloud services at scale, with experience in Python, Golang, Java or Rust
  • 4+ years of experience managing a team of 6+ engineers and providing technical leadership
  • Track record in hiring, mentoring, and growing high-performing software engineering teams, including remote teams and career development
  • Excellent verbal and written technical communication skills and collaboration across teams
  • Strong background in building core components for high-scale compute or data processing / distributed systems
  • Led the launch of new features and maintained them in production
  • Bonus: experience with containerization and orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes) and AI frameworks/tools
  • Be a force multiplier in software development through leadership and technical contributions
  • Eager to learn with a strong technical background
