About the role

Senior Financial Analyst to join the Infrastructure Finance team, owning the financials of Shopify's infrastructure software space and data management behind infrastructure finance. Partners with R&D, Data, and Product on financial planning, investment decisions, and business cases; manages data and tooling across infrastructure (hosting, hardware, software, AI) to support forecasting, close, and reporting. Drives efficiency using AI/data tools to streamline workflows and build next-gen financial reporting insights for decision-makers.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with R&D and Product to understand infra software needs, priorities, and value — bring financial rigour to their decisions
  • Own forecasting and reporting cycles for the software space, including monthly variance analysis and operating reviews
  • Build management reporting across all of infrastructure — dashboards and sites that tell the infra finance investment story
  • Manage the data and systems behind reporting to ensure information is current and accurate
  • Track cost drivers and unit economics, driving value-oriented spend management
  • Surface new insights and build financial models that inform business decisions
  • Surface risks and opportunities in the software investment space to decision-makers, clearly and early
  • Use SQL, Python, and emerging AI tools to automate manual work and improve FP&A operations

Qualifications

  • Proven track record of driving significant impact in complex and ambiguous business situations
  • R&D finance background working with engineering teams on FP&A activities
  • Strong communication skills to distill complex topics
  • Significant experience in financial modeling and strategic planning
  • Strong understanding of SQL and Python for data extraction, manipulation, and data integrity
  • Enthusiasm for the R&D space and innovative tools
  • Growth mindset and proven execution ability
  • Ability to thrive in fast-moving, ambiguous environments
  • Track record in data science, management consulting, investment banking, FP&A or related field
  • Experience in tech, fintech or SaaS-based business models
  • Demonstrated experience transforming or automating FP&A processes
