About the role

Optical Manufacturing Test Engineer responsible for validating and ensuring quality of photonic components, modules, and systems. Combines hands-on production testing with hardware test development and reporting to support NPI and volume manufacturing, collaborating across optical design, hardware, and manufacturing teams.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-end manufacturing test ownership: ensure changes to test hardware and processes follow QMS requirements, including equipment selection, tester BOM, test schematic diagrams, test flows, and work instructions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Physics, or related field
  • 12 years experience in high-volume optical transceiver manufacturing and/or automated test system development for electronics and optics manufacturing
  • Experience with transceiver module tests at 400G, 800G, 1.6T is preferable
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Expert in optical test equipment and protocols for manufacturing and design of optical transceivers
  • Hands-on experience with optical test instruments (e.g., optical spectrum analyzers, power meters, polarization controllers, bit-error-rate testers)
  • In-depth knowledge of yield analysis, problem solving, and manufacturing process implementation
  • Familiarity with processor communication interfaces and test automation tools
  • Data query/analysis skills; SPC, GR&R, tester correlation, and report generation
  • Ability to write/adapt automation scripts (Python, LabVIEW, Visual Basic; Shell scripting a plus)
  • Experience with reliability testing and quality control best practices
  • Understanding of QMS and quality standards
  • Expertise in optics FA processes and tools
  • Ability to manage multiple test projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong English communication skills; ability to train/mentor peers
  • Willingness for international travel
