About the role

HR Generalist role partnering with Advertising, Marketing, Communications, Licensing, Partnerships, Wirecutter, and Events; focus on operational HR, Workday data integrity, position management, reporting, and collaboration with COEs and HRBPs. Hybrid in NYC (3 days/week in office).

Responsibilities

  • Partner with HRBPs, business leadership, cross-functional partners, and COEs (Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, ER, Legal, and Labor) to support various people initiatives, e.g. end-to-end performance management, goal setting, and annual compensation cycles.
  • Provide direct guidance to employees and line managers on HR policy interpretation, performance and employee relations inquiries, and everyday workplace solutions.
  • Manage position opening and reconciliation against department hiring forecasts in collaboration with hiring managers, Finance, and Talent Acquisition.
  • Maintain strict data integrity within Workday by processing transactions (promotions, manager changes, cost center updates, work location changes) and conducting regular audits.
  • Pull reports and reconcile data sets as requested (rosters, anniversaries, attendance), shout outs.
  • Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.

Qualifications

  • 2 or more years of experience as an HR Generalist supporting matrixed departments.
  • Technical proficiency in using a cloud-based HRIS such as Workday (position management, transactions, and reporting).
