About the role

Strategic communications role focused on messaging for Anthropic’s Safeguards work, translating complex AI safety topics into accessible narratives for media, policymakers, researchers, and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute communication strategies that explain the work Anthropic’s Safeguards team is doing, with emphasis on helping everyday users understand safety measures
  • Plan for and manage crisis communications and counsel stakeholders on potential issues and risks
  • Own the comms strategy for product safety, including new model launches, product features, and harm areas like child safety, well-being, and mental health
  • Lead cross-functional communications projects aligning safeguards, research, product, policy, and legal teams around shared messaging and campaigns
  • Craft messaging for major company announcements and milestones for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Build strong relationships with journalists and relevant influencers
  • Oversee executive interviews and speaking engagements

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in communications, ideally at a high-growth technology company with consumer-facing products
  • Strong track record of proactive communications campaigns
  • Excel at translating complex technical language into messaging for everyday users and strong written/verbal communication
  • Excellent media relations and issues management
  • Experience collaborating with research teams and cross-functional technical/non-technical teams
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, small, impactful team
  • Ability to translate AI insights for broader audiences
  • Results-oriented with flexibility and impact
  • Passion for safe development of transformative AI systems
