About the role

Engineering role focused on building and scaling backend systems and onboard modules for the Routing team, refining routing algorithms, ETAs, and traffic management for the Nuro Driver platform.

Responsibilities

  • Work on building and scaling both the backend systems and onboard modules for the Routing team.
  • Design microservices, optimize routing algorithms, understand road network graphs, build monitoring and analytics infrastructure, and optimize deployment pipelines.
  • Collaborate with product, strategy, and operations teams to design and build new user experiences, and define product strategy and roadmap.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience building and scaling realtime server-side applications.
  • Experience with large-scale complex algorithm problems balancing correctness and performance.
  • Experience selecting appropriate storage technologies across relational, non-relational, and data warehouses (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, BigTable, Cassandra, Redis, BigQuery, Snowflake).
  • Experience with RPC frameworks (gRPC, Thrift) and pub/sub systems (Kafka, Cloud PubSub, Celery).
  • Extensive experience with cloud providers (GCP, AWS).
  • Experience with Docker & Kubernetes, or willingness to learn.
