About the role

Weave Robotics is seeking a Mechatronics Engineer to design and integrate electromechanical systems for home robots, working across both electrical and mechanical domains. The role involves rapid iteration across structure, PCB design, thermal, harnesses, and system integration for a consumer robotics product.

Responsibilities

  • Design electromechanical assemblies: base, arms, structures, mounts, and enclosures with electronics packaging, grounding, and serviceability considerations.
  • Own the harnesses: wire gauging, connector selection, routing through moving joints, strain relief, and production-ready drawings.
  • Own thermal at the robot level: heat paths, heatsinks, fans and airflow, balancing against acoustics and ingress.
  • Design the robot’s periphery: charging dock and contacts, e-stop chain, lights, speakers, buttons.
  • Build test infrastructure: rigs, fixtures, and instrumented setups for design verification and production prove-out.
  • Integrate and debug the whole robot: diagnose faults across harness, board, or bracket.
  • Support builds and production: prototype assembly, EVT/DVT builds, DFM/DFA with manufacturing, and design changes for the line.

Qualifications

  • Experience designing electromechanical systems that shipped (robots, consumer hardware, vehicles, appliances, or similar).
  • Mechanical fundamentals: CAD (Solidworks), tolerance stacks, GD&T, material selection, structural basics, DFM across machining, molding, sheet metal.
  • Electrical fundamentals: ability to read/design schematics, harnesses/interconnects, grounding/shielding, PCB layout reviews (KiCAD/Altium).
  • Fast iteration mindset: hands-on prototyping and rapid testing (3D printing, quick board fabrication).
  • Bench competence with oscilloscope, multimeter, calipers, presses; capable of building test setups.
  • Cross-domain debugging to trace faults across electrical/mechanical boundaries.
  • Willingness to pick up diverse tasks as needed (range).
