About the role

Environmental Health & Safety Engineer responsible for implementing and overseeing EHS programs for SpaceX construction projects at Cape Canaveral, with emphasis on crane, rigging, heavy equipment, welding, and fabrication safety.

Responsibilities

  • Implement, enforce, and audit the site’s construction contractor EHS management program for SpaceX employees and contractors.
  • Develop and maintain safety observations from hazard identifications inspections of facilities, machinery, safety equipment, and on-site construction; mitigate hazards and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with department leadership to complete job hazard assessments, establish PPE requirements, determine safeguards, and implement health and safety policies across construction sites.
  • Provide technical oversight for high-risk mechanical construction tasks including crane and rigging operations, heavy equipment use, welding, and heavy structural steel fabrication.
  • Monitor and evaluate employee exposure to hazards during nominal processes or emergencies.
  • Develop recommendations for remedial actions when safety policies are not met.
  • Educate and provide safety training to construction personnel on cranes, rigging, heavy equipment, welding safety, and fabrication.
  • Investigate incidents, spills, injuries, or occupational diseases; determine root causes and establish corrective actions and preventive measures with focus on cranes, rigging, heavy equipment, welding, or fabrication.
  • Develop and maintain compliance with EPA, RCRA, DOT and other regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure appropriate resource allocation to safety-related items.

Qualifications

  • - Bachelor’s degree
  • - 5+ years of experience in design, development, and operational oversight of environmental, health and safety within the construction industry
