About the role

Lead technical leader for Guided Setup in dbt Enterprise customers, owning the most complex and high-visibility onboarding engagements, mentoring the team, and collaborating with cross-functional partners to scale setup delivery and improve processes, documentation, and product experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Own complex and escalated setup engagements
  • Lead Guided Setup for the most technically complex and high-visibility enterprise accounts across data warehouse/repository configuration, SSO, RBAC/SCIM, and user access
  • Serve as senior technical escalation point for onboarding timelines and customer activation (PrivateLink, OAuth, SSO, networking, identity scenarios)
  • Engage with customer technical stakeholders to understand environments, identify risks, and guide successful configuration
  • Anticipate blockers and create plans to resolve them
  • Make scoping decisions about Guided Setup vs other teams/product/post-onboarding work
  • Maintain high standards for customer experience, documentation, and technical quality in complex engagements
  • Act as a technical mentor/coach for Cloud Onboarding Architect I/II
  • Own and improve Guided Setup checklist, playbooks, kickoff materials, troubleshooting guidance, and internal docs
  • Identify patterns across engagements to create repeatable processes, tooling, documentation, or product feedback
  • Address recurring setup blockers and drive fixes across documentation, processes, enablement, or product improvements
  • Represent setup cross-functionally to Engineering, Product, and Design for bugs, feature requests, and onboarding UX feedback
  • Collaborate with Customer Solutions Engineering on setup/support boundaries and post-onboarding utilization
  • Coordinate with Training on on-demand setup content
  • Contribute setup expertise to Engineering on PrivateLink and network architecture
  • Advocate for enterprise customers in internal discussions on usability, administration, security, and onboarding
  • Utilize data and feedback to improve setup time and activation readiness

Qualifications

  • Deep, hands-on dbt experience (2-3 years minimum) as an account admin and data practitioner
  • Prior experience as a Cloud Onboarding Architect / Implementation Consultant or equivalent
  • Administrator-level fluency with data warehouses (Snowflake / Databricks / BigQuery / Redshift)
  • Experience with repositories (GitHub / GitLab / Azure DevOps) and identity providers (Okta / Entra ID / Google) including SSO, SAML, OAuth
  • Track record of mentoring or coaching teammates
  • Ability to own ambiguous cross-functional problems and build playbooks
  • Strong written and verbal communication; able to represent team perspectives to executives
  • Ability to tailor white-glove onboarding experiences based on account size/importance
  • Strong customer judgment balancing technical correctness with timelines and business priorities
