About the role

Senior Staff Applications Engineer to own Spark opportunity qualification, technical verdicts, and engagement with EDG, business development, and partners for Crusoe’s Spark modular data center (MDC) and Spark-Liquid (DLC) product lines.

Responsibilities

  • Qualification Framework: Build and maintain standardized screening criteria, scoring model, decision thresholds, and report format; keep current with product roadmap; record past calls and rationale.
  • Team Enablement: Train and enable EDG, business development, and partner teams to apply the framework on standard opportunities; document and iterate to reduce single points of failure.
  • Escalated Technical Judgment: Act as Spark team point of contact for undefined, non-standard, or contested opportunities; deliver fit/conditional fit/no-fit verdict with engineering rationale.
  • Speed Discipline: Provide feasibility assessments in days, framing problems for targeted deeper analysis.
  • Deviation & Exception Management: Identify deviations from standard Spark configuration; quantify impact; route to responsible engineering discipline.
  • New Application Assessment: Evaluate non-standard applications (edge deployments, distributed energy assets, co-located sites, third-party colocation); define product changes needed.
  • Roadmap Feedback Loop: Feed field constraints back to design engineering and R&D as prioritized product requirements.
  • Site & Partner Engagement: Serve as technical counterpart to EDG; perform Spark fit assessments against module requirements; conduct site walks and maintain risk register.
  • Technical Communication & Diligence: Provide technical inputs for financial modeling; translate tradeoffs for executive stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive engineering experience spanning data center infrastructure, power generation or utility interconnection, industrial capital projects, or modular systems.
  • Broad fluency across electrical, mechanical/thermal, and civil/structural disciplines relevant to data centers and modular infrastructure.
  • First-principles decision making with accountability for recommendations that have capital consequences.
  • Technical counterparty credibility with external developers, utilities, and executives.
  • Ability to connect engineering decisions to economics ($/MW, capex, PUE, deployment schedules).
  • Product authority track record on an engineered product or platform where you provided authoritative capabilities/limits insights.
  • Mountaineer spirit: rigor, comfort with ambiguity, safety-first culture, disciplined in decision making without perfect information.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or closely related discipline.
