About the role

New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineering Leader for the Spark Business Unit, bridging Spark Hardware Design with enterprise execution to verify and hand off Spark hardware modules into manufacturing. Owns the NPI phase-gate process, ensures complete release packages, and enables Manufacturing and Supply Chain with clean baselines and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Spark hardware NPI framework (Concept to Launch) within the Spark BU to align design engineering progress with enterprise release readiness.
  • Define design release readiness for physical Spark modules. Ensure design freeze and production gates clear only when product specs, subsystem verification tests, and manufacturing handoff criteria are fully met.
  • Enforce gate discipline to resolve design, thermal interface, and electrical interference issues before manufacturing, delivering a clean and complete NPI packet.
  • Maintain an objective hardware readiness scorecard (MRL/PRR-like) for leadership and manufacturing visibility.
  • Manage engineering baseline transitions into production and support ECO/ECN workflows in PLM with clear release states.
  • Deliver complete hardware release packages to downstream teams (CAD, drawings, electrical, fluid schematics, multi-level BOMs, FAT criteria).
  • Translate Spark hardware roadmaps into actionable handoff schedules for Supply Chain, Quality, Manufacturing, and Construction.
  • Plan and orchestrate FOAK prototype builds and provide DFM feedback during validation.
  • Partner with Manufacturing to ensure documentation, assembly instructions, tooling, and test specs for line setup.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain early to identify long-lead components and vet suppliers before design freeze.
  • Validate core physical elements (mechanical shells, frames, Direct-to-Chip cooling, 800V DC distribution, rack interfaces) as a cohesive package prior to release.
  • Ensure released packages include ICDs usable by site engineering, civil construction, and commissioning teams.
  • Support initial production ramps with Manufacturing to resolve design/supply issues and protect schedules.
  • Provide unified visibility into release readiness, subsystem risks, and manufacturing enablement for executives.
  • Lead post-launch reviews to capture feedback and refine release standards for future hardware generations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Systems Engineering, or a related physical engineering discipline.
