About the role

OpenGov software engineer role focused on building SaaS solutions for local and state governments using ReactJS, Typescript, GraphQL, and NodeJS. Responsible for leading feature development, collaborating across teams, mentoring juniors, and adopting AI-driven approaches to improve product experiences in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate across the organization to understand and translate business priorities into shipped features delivering customer success.
  • Generate clean, efficient, and well-documented software following industry best practices.
  • Independently design and develop high-quality features that are scalable, secure, and maintainable.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement of development processes, tools and operational excellence
  • Mentor and guide junior software engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, advocating for their adoption where appropriate.
  • Contribute to OpenGov’s Engineering culture of innovation, leading-edge technology adoption and quality

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in a computer-science-related discipline or equivalent experience required
  • 5+ years of professional experience in software development.
  • Proficiency in Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, ReactJS, and NodeJS is required
  • Proficiency in data structures, database concepts and algorithms is required
  • Proficiency in observability concepts is required
  • Proficiency in GraphQL APIs is required
  • Experience in building software using event-driven architecture is highly desirable
