About the role

MongoDB is seeking a Search Specialist within the Pre-Sales Solutions Architecture team to guide customers in designing and deploying scalable systems using MongoDB's data platform, with a focus on Search (including Vector Search, Embeddings, and Rerankers). The role is remote-based in Barcelona, Spain, and involves worldwide collaboration, complex deal support, enablement, and close alignment with the Atlas Search product team.

Responsibilities

  • Design systems, applications, and infrastructure to help drive software development projects using MongoDB and the Atlas data platform
  • Advise customers on architectures, patterns, and strategies for making the best use of MongoDB
  • Expertly articulate the business value of MongoDB solutions
  • Align to support sales with activities such as technical discovery, demos, proof of value, presentation, sizing, and documentation of technical decision criteria; working across a number of opportunities in parallel
  • Translate technical concepts and patterns into business benefits for management and executives
  • Act as a liaison, collecting feedback from the field to relay back to the Product Management team
  • Help drive demand through participation in both industry-known trade-shows as well account-based marketing events
  • Demonstrate resilience and sound judgment in dealing with business challenges
  • Proactively seek opportunities to support and mentor other pre-sales team members and share standard methodologies
  • Help enable other solutions architects with knowledge on search technical and business concepts as well as build tools to allow other SAs to demonstrate these concepts
  • Assist in the direction of Search and AI through collaboration with Product Management
  • Embody MongoDB’s core values in interactions with internal teams and customers

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of search or information retrieval expertise (Elasticsearch, Lucene, Solr, Algolia, Milvus, Qdrant, or similar)
  • 3+ years of software development experience or pre-sales experience with enterprise software
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish
  • Solid understanding and ability to code with two or more modern scripting languages (e.g. Python, Node.js) and/or popular programming languages (e.g. C, C++, C#, Java, etc)
  • Solid understanding of how to use AI agents in day-to-day work
  • Experience with scalable and highly available distributed systems
  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills
  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to travel approximately 20% of the time
