About the role

Legal role focused on advising and supporting WhatsApp consumer initiatives across product, with emphasis on applying complex legal frameworks to innovative products and coordinating compliance and regulatory strategy across Meta.

Responsibilities

  • Drive and support high-profile and high-impact projects involving legal analysis and compliance with cross-functional stakeholders across WhatsApp’s business, policy, legal, communications, security, and other cross-functional teams, covering consumer and data protection laws and regulations.
  • Oversee outside counsel relationships.
  • Lead across and coordinate with public policy and communications colleagues on external communication, policy development, and enforcement decisions.
  • Help to set, implement and improve the strategy and vision for advising and partnering with business teams.
  • Directly manage client relationships with the business.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree from an accredited institution
  • Active and in good standing bar license in at least one U.S. state or equivalent foreign bar license; ability to promptly obtain permission to practice law for Meta in location of role
  • 8+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney, including at a law firm, in-house, or in government
  • Demonstrated knowledge of global privacy laws, regulations, privacy programs and industry guidelines
  • Diligent, proactive, collaborative partner with sound legal and business judgment and strategic thinking
  • Experience working on multiple projects in a deadline-focused environment, delivering practical advice under pressure
  • Experience communicating legal advice to clients at varying levels
  • Experience taking on projects involving different subject matters and working with cross-functional organizations to drive alignment
  • Demonstrate business judgment and client counseling skills
  • Effective communication skills
