About the role
Senior RF engineer at Xona Space Systems responsible for designing, implementing, testing, and optimizing RF systems to enable the next-generation GNSS system, from spacecraft payload electronics to ground monitoring systems, ensuring end-to-end RF broadcast system performance.
Responsibilities
- Designing, implementing, testing, and optimizing RF systems to enable the next-generation GNSS system
- Work on spacecraft payload electronics and ground monitoring systems
- Ensure end-to-end RF broadcast system delivers high-accuracy PNT service
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external partners to achieve project goals
- Travel to support off-site testing events as needed
- Self-starter, proactive in driving projects from design through implementation
- Analyze and interpret RF test data and assess performance vs. design requirements
Qualifications
- Understanding of electromagnetic principles behind radio frequency communications
- Ability to interpret PCBA schematics and layout drawings; familiarity with PCB ECAD tools such as Altium
- Hands-on experience with RF test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers)
- Knowledge of typical RF performance metrics
- Hands-on experience with antenna design/testing; familiarity with 3D EM simulations (Ansys HFSS)
- RF amplifier and circuits tuning
- RF design experience in L-Band, S-Band and C Band
- Familiarity with RF circuit simulation tools (Keysight ADS or AWR Microwave Office)
- Hands-on experience with RF test setups and calibrations
- Ability to analyze RF test data and assess against requirements
- Willingness to travel for off-site testing
- Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and cross-team collaboration
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
