About the role

Cloud Infrastructure Engineer focused on running and evolving Xona’s cloud platform (AWS, Kubernetes, observability, IaC) to support a growing satellite PNT service with strong emphasis on reliability, security, and scalable infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Own cloud operations: run environments from alpha to production on AWS and Kubernetes, help software engineers scale services, plan capacity, release often, optimize costs, embed security and infra best practices into workflows.
  • Develop best-in-class observability: own monitoring end-to-end, implement observability infrastructure to stay ahead of SLOs with dashboards and timely alerts, enforce robust testing and monitoring standards across teams.
  • Automate everything: continuous delivery, high availability, hermetic builds, infrastructure-as-code, zero-downtime deployments; write quality software in at least one general purpose language; replace manual processes to improve speed and reproducibility.
  • Design for the future: support expansion of Pulsar constellation to 100x with flexible infrastructure and release/testing flows.
  • Be a Kubernetes technical leader: establish paved-road patterns for Kubernetes deployment and operations; mentor teams.
  • Collaborate across software, platform, and hardware teams to build reliable, scalable infrastructure for global PNT services.

Qualifications

  • Strong infrastructure or SRE engineer with passion for running systems at scale and continuous improvement
  • Strong Kubernetes experience including production operations, deployment tooling, networking, IAM, and GitOps patterns; on-premises experience (OpenShift/etc) is a plus
  • Thoughtful about testing/release workflow design and its impact on reliability in a microservices architecture
  • Experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes), infrastructure-as-code (OpenTofu/Terraform), and cloud networking
  • Strong observability instincts; effective alerts and dashboards; OpenTelemetry experience is a plus
  • Opinionated about automating processes, maintaining complex systems, and safe shipping
  • Belief in empowering software engineers to deploy and manage their deployments and infrastructure autonomously
  • Ability to thrive in a small team with high impact and visibility
  • Preferred: contributions to open source infrastructure tooling (Helm, Terraform modules); interest in open source build tooling (Bazel/Buck2/Nix/Guix) and reproducible hermetic builds
