About the role
Regulatory Legal Counsel, EMEA, advises on platform, AI and digital regulation across Europe, the UK, the Middle East and Africa, translating complex obligations into practical advice and implementation plans while partnering with cross-functional teams and regulators.
Responsibilities
- Advise on implementation and compliance with EU, UK and other EMEA digital regulations, focusing on the EU AI Act, Digital Services Act (DSA), UK Online Safety Act (OSA), AVMSD, and national implementations (e.g., Ireland's Online Safety Code) and the eCommerce Directive.
- Support regulatory engagement and investigations with the European Commission, EU AI Office, Ofcom, Coimisiún na Meán and other regulators, including requests for information, risk assessments, audits, consultations, transparency reporting and enforcement proceedings.
- Work cross-functionally with Safety, Product and Engineering to assess new features and AI products against regulatory requirements (systemic risk, illegal content risk, age assurance, protection of minors, content moderation, user reporting flows, advertising transparency, researcher data access, AI transparency and labeling).
- Track and analyze new legislation, codes of practice, guidelines and enforcement trends across EMEA, and translate them into practical guidance for products.
- Help build scalable processes, templates and playbooks for regulatory compliance and product review.
- Partner with Compliance, Product Counsel, Privacy, Litigation and Policy to maintain consistent positions across jurisdictions and regulators.
- Manage outside counsel effectively and cost-consciously.
- Support the legal department actively, including taking on unfamiliar tasks to help the team.
- Adopt daily use of AI products to accelerate learning and productivity.
Qualifications
- Qualified lawyer of good standing ideally UK and/or EU
