About the role
Regulatory Legal Counsel, EMEA advising on platform, AI and digital regulation across Europe, the UK, the Middle East and Africa, translating complex obligations into practical advice and implementation plans while partnering with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Advise on implementation and compliance with EU, UK and other EMEA digital regulations, focusing on EU AI Act, DSA, UK OSA, AVMSD, and national implementations (e.g., Ireland Online Safety Code) and eCommerce Directive.
- Support regulatory engagement and investigations with regulators (European Commission, EU AI Office, Ofcom, Coimisiún na Meán, etc.), including information requests, risk assessments, audits, consultations, transparency reporting and enforcement proceedings.
- Work cross-functionally with Safety, Product and Engineering to assess features and AI products against regulatory requirements (systemic risk, illegal content risk, age assurance, minors protection, content moderation, user reporting, advertising transparency, researcher data access, AI transparency and labeling).
- Track and analyze new legislation, codes of practice, guidelines and enforcement trends across EMEA and translate into practical guidance for products.
- Help build scalable processes, templates and playbooks for regulatory compliance and product review.
- Partner with Compliance, Product Counsel, Privacy, Litigation and Policy to maintain consistent positions across jurisdictions and regulators.
- Manage outside counsel effectively and cost-consciously.
- Provide proactive support across the legal department, including taking on unfamiliar tasks as needed.
- Adopt daily use of AI products to accelerate learning and productivity.
Qualifications
- Qualified lawyer of good standing ideally UK and/or EU
Skills
Required:Legal experience in technology, platform or digital regulationKnowledge of DSA and/or UK OSA
