About the role

Procurement Operations partner responsible for end-to-end purchasing and spend management for Anthropic's technology stack (software, SaaS, cloud and developer tools). Owns the intake-to-close process, ensuring correct coding, approvals, vendor security reviews, contract alignment, and accurate month-end accruals. Focuses on high-volume software procurement with an accounting core and leverages AI-enabled workflows.

Responsibilities

  • - Manage a high volume of purchase requests, renewals, and license changes each month across the organization, keeping speed and accuracy high at the same time.
  • - Serve as the primary procurement partner for teams buying in your categories, guiding requesters from initial request to signed agreement and issued purchase order.
  • - Review every purchase request for vendor records, contracting entity, complete commercial documents, correct spend categorization and service dates, and required approvals.
  • - Determine additional requirements (order form, data privacy review, third party risk assessment) and route to appropriate reviewers first time.
  • - Partner with Security to run vendor security reviews on new tools and renewals; ensure security before go-live.
  • - Launch and track contract reviews with Legal; ensure executed agreements support the purchase order.
  • - Structure purchase orders to match vendor billing and accounting needs, with correct GL account, cost center, and service period; manage renewals, true ups, and seat changes.
  • - Track license counts and renewal dates; flag underused or overlapping tools to budget owners.
  • - Code every purchase order correctly (GL, spend category, cost center, service period) and understand impact on financials.
  • - Handle complex cases (multi-year subscriptions, mid-term seat additions, true ups, credits, mid-cycle amendments).
  • - Own open PO book, receipts, and monthly closings to ensure PO, receipt, and invoice alignment.
  • - Serve as first-line reviewer for month-end accruals; gather estimates and verify proposed amounts.
  • - Partner with Accounts Payable to resolve invoice holds and PO mismatches; ensure timely supplier payments.
  • - Support audit and reporting requests with verifiable data.
  • - Be visible in teams’ Slack channels and office hours; answer questions and escalate blockers with context.
  • - Apply purchasing policy consistently; explain approvals and exceptions.
  • - Translate procurement, legal, security, and finance requirements into plain language for engineers and stakeholders; feedback realities to teams.
  • - Maintain regular check-ins with high-volume teams to avoid surprises on purchases and renewals.
  • - Maintain playbooks, intake guidance, and SOPs; identify automation opportunities with Claude/AI to reduce manual work.

Qualifications

  • - Proven track record of owning a high-volume purchasing portfolio end-to-end in a procure-to-pay and intake platform.
  • - Solid working knowledge of accrual accounting as it applies to purchasing: accruals and reversals, service period and cutoff, prepaid versus expense, and GL and cost center coding.
  • - Experience buying and managing software or SaaS at scale, including seat-based, usage-based, and tiered subscription billing models.
  • - Experience owning the tool and vendor lifecycle end to end, from intake through security review, contracting, renewal, and sunset.
