Founding Product Engineer
About the role
We’re building AI agents and the infrastructure around them to help security teams detect threats, investigate alerts, and respond. Cotool is hiring a generalist software engineer to own problems from the first customer conversation through production, focusing on agent harnesses, context/memory, evals/feedback loops, data infrastructure, and the product around the agent.
Responsibilities
- Agent harnesses. Improve the execution loop: tool selection, state management, retries, failure recovery, and controls for safe agent actions.
- Context layers and memory. Retrieve, assemble, and compact evidence and knowledge to keep long investigations coherent without high latency or token cost.
- Evals and feedback loops. Create reproducible cases from real failures, inspect traces, and measure improvements.
- Tools and data infrastructure. Provide agents with useful interfaces to security systems and fast data access via ClickHouse, APIs, and integrations.
- The product around the agent. Build interfaces for investigating findings, editing detections, inspecting evidence, and approving actions across UI, backend, and runtime.
- Follow traces to debugging failures, adjust context assembly/compactation, and ship fixes.
Qualifications
- Strong software fundamentals and ability to move across unfamiliar codebases.
- Experience with AI tools and explaining/debugging production code.
- Ability to own substantial pieces of the product and work closely with founders.
