About the role

Gifted & Talented Teacher with focus on reading and math for an after-school program, delivering project-based, inquiry-driven instruction to gifted learners in a Lansing, MI setting.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a project-based curriculum tailored to gifted and talented students.
  • Utilize inquiry-based, problem-solving, and discovery-driven instructional approaches to cultivate deep learning.
  • Encourage students to engage in higher-order thinking, abstract reasoning, and mathematical modeling.
  • Foster an interactive, student-centered classroom environment that promotes collaboration and discourse.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and administrators regarding student progress.
  • Be present for the entire program.

Qualifications

  • State teaching certification (preferred)
  • Proven track record of success in teaching.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage, inspire, and challenge students at an advanced level.
  • Strong knowledge of math and reading skills and strategies.
  • Exceptional ability to foster intellectual curiosity, independent thinking, and creativity.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, parents, and faculty.

Benefits

  • $31 - $31 an hour
  • Hours: Tuesday and Thursday, 1.5 hours after school, .5 preparation time.
