About the role

Railway seeks a Software Engineer focused on machine learning to build fraud detection and security tooling to protect infrastructure while enabling legitimate workloads. The role involves collaborating with leadership (CEO) and cross-functional teams to design and implement fraud models, code scanning tools, and secure coding practices in a remote, high-ownership startup environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work on building out our fraud model to prevent nefarious actors from abusing our infrastructure
  • Designing and implementing scanning code scanning tools to prevent hostile workloads
  • Collaborate with the broader team to build practices on secure coding practices
  • Making hard decisions on what to allow on the platform while influencing business rules.
  • Implementing flows that handle edge cases to allow legitimate workloads on the platform

Qualifications

  • A strong sense of empathy. Experience working between functional teams especially our infrastructure
  • A great sense of direction and prioritization for organizing work to solve platform abuse
  • Innate ability to scope sources of fraud and automate methods to remove said traffic
  • Great communication skills for scoping problems and conveying solutions
  • Diversity-minded and able to work with people from varied backgrounds
