About the role

MongoDB Technical Services Engineers advise customers and solve complex MongoDB problems, focusing on performance of the Cloud platform Atlas, with hybrid work in Milan (Tues-Sat). They combine MongoDB expertise with problem solving, communication, and knowledge sharing.

Responsibilities

  • Solve complex MongoDB problems for customers (architecture, performance, recovery, security, etc.).
  • Be an expert resource on best practices for running MongoDB at scale.
  • Interface with product management and development teams on customer needs.
  • Contribute to internal projects, including development of support tools for performance, benchmarking, and diagnostics.
  • Focus on the performance of the Cloud platform Atlas and its services, in addition to MongoDB database work.
  • Help frontend and backend developers build next-generation applications on the MongoDB platform.
  • Share knowledge with peers through training, workshops, and documentation in the knowledge base.

Qualifications

  • 3–4 years of experience in a technical support, solutions support, or customer-facing engineering role
  • Experience with distributed systems, database architecture, and administration (RDMBS or NoSQL)
  • Experience supporting complex mission-critical product applications and database systems
  • Experience with Cloud and/or Enterprise grade applications
  • Strong diagnostics and troubleshooting skills across application, database, and storage layers
  • Systems administration experience (Linux performance, memory management, I/O tuning, security, networking, clusters)
  • Ability to read code and basic coding/scripting in one or more languages (e.g., Java, Python, Ruby, C, C++, C#, Javascript, Node.js, Go)
  • Understanding of Networking concepts and protocols (DNS, TCP/IP, SSL/TLS)
  • Storage engineering experience (NAS, RAID, SAN, SSD, multi-pathing, caching)
  • Experience with real-time stream processing (Kafka) and serverless services (AWS Lambda, Azure functions)
  • Excellent communication skills in Italian and English
  • Willingness to work in Milan hybrid model (Tues-Sat)
