About the role

Lead and scale Etched's first in-house production line for frontier AI hardware, hiring and training the founding operator team, owning shift operations, and serving as the key liaison between production, inventory, lab operations, test development, and engineering to establish a repeatable playbook for future sites.

Responsibilities

  • Build the team: Recruit, hire, and develop the line's founding team of assembly technicians and production test operators; Train operators on SOPs; Build a culture of safety, quality, and ownership on the floor
  • Run the line: Own every shift's results; schedule and assign the team; execute work orders; deliver builds on time and to spec; partner with receiving and inventory to ensure material flow; triage and escalate mid-shift issues; own day-to-day use of inventory management, manufacturing execution, and test software and keep data accurate
  • Work across the company: Be the line's voice in coordination with production, inventory, lab operations, and engineering; root-cause issues with engineers and test development; provide leadership with clear line status, risks, and needs to hit plan
  • Build for scale: Turn floor learnings into better SOPs, processes, and training; design site-readiness checklists to replicate the line at future Etched sites

Qualifications

  • Experience leading a hands-on team in a fast-paced, physical environment (e.g., factory line, construction crew, commercial kitchen, or restaurant)
  • Track record of scheduling people, assigning work, and running a tight, organized shift
  • Experience training new team members and holding them to clear standards and procedures
  • Ability to keep supplies stocked, spot bottlenecks, and keep work moving
  • Calm, practical judgment when things go wrong mid-shift
  • Clear, direct communication with team, partner departments, and leadership
  • Comfort learning new software tools and using them daily
  • Excitement to build a career in AI hardware (no prior tech experience required)
