About the role

Intern on Skydio's Manufacturing Software team focused on building tools and systems to scale manufacturing of drones, docks, and accessories. Cross-functional role spanning backend, embedded software, frontend, and electrical engineering to turn prototypes into finished products and improve manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain manufacturing software solutions to support scale of drone production.
  • Work across backend (Python + Flask), embedded software (C++/C), frontend (React + Typescript), and hardware fixtures.
  • Build and operate AI-powered triage systems to inspect hardware and suggest repairs, integrating LLM agents with manufacturing APIs.
  • Contribute to projects such as Hardware-in-the-Loop systems, deployment tooling for code on physical machines, visual configuration tooling for mass production processes, robot calibration processes, factory dashboards, and automated test fixtures.

Qualifications

  • Strong Python fundamentals and coding skills.
  • Enjoy solving cross-functional hardware-software challenges.
  • Patient troubleshooter, collaborative and helpful.
  • Interest in how hardware and software come together in manufacturing (How It's Made / Factorio mindset).
