About the role

Lead Counsel, Regulatory to join Meta's Legal team in Brazil, providing strategic legal advice on regulatory matters affecting Meta's products and services in the region. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to navigate regulatory frameworks, support compliance initiatives, and represent the company in regulatory proceedings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal counsel on regulatory matters, including AI, privacy, consumer protection, telecommunications and digital services regulations in Brazil and Latin America
  • Monitor and analyze regulatory developments and assess their impact on Meta's business operations
  • Develop and implement regulatory compliance strategies in collaboration with policy, product, and business teams
  • Represent Meta in interactions with regulatory authorities and in administrative proceedings
  • Draft and review regulatory filings, responses to regulatory inquiries, and compliance documentation
  • Advise on regulatory aspects of product launches and business initiatives
  • Collaborate with external counsel on regulatory matters and litigation support as needed

Qualifications

  • Law degree and active bar membership in Brazil (OAB)
  • 5+ years of experience advising on technology regulatory matters, administrative proceedings, or government affairs
  • Meta requires all employed attorneys to have a law degree or equivalent certificate to permit the practice of law and be appropriately licensed and authorized to practice law for the company in their assigned work location
  • Experience advising on regulatory compliance and engaging with regulatory authorities
  • Experience working in-house or at a law firm on regulatory matters
  • Communication skills in Portuguese and English, as the role supports regulatory matters in Brazil and engages with English-speaking cross-functional teams
