About the role

Staff+ engineer responsible for designing and scaling Anthropic's platform safety infrastructure, including access control, verification (KYC/KYB), and shared services for model access across products and cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and operate systems that decide who gets access to Anthropic's most capable models
  • Build the platform enabling teams to launch and run trusted access programs, moving access rules from code to data
  • Develop and evolve identity and business verification system (KYC/KYB) as a reusable service, including vendor integration, data protection, regional expansion, and fair review/appeal paths
  • Improve core services that grant and hold access and the identity models they rely on, ensuring high availability and consistency across products and cloud platforms
  • Shape architecture through proposals, review designs, and mentor engineers on a growing team
  • Share on-call responsibilities, lead incident response, and support new programs

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of practical experience as a backend or platform engineer, ideally at tech lead level or equivalent
  • Strong product sense with ability to work with cross-functional partners
  • Experience using AI tools in design/build/review of software
  • Designed and operated production distributed systems with critical-path requirements (correctness, latency, availability)
  • Ownership mindset across design, build, deployment, operations and iteration
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and set technical direction that others adopt; experience in 0→1 and mature settings
  • Interest in building robust, scalable systems that are widely used
  • Concern for societal impacts of work and alignment with Anthropic mission
