About the role

Anduril is seeking an Integration and Test Engineer with a strong software focus to join the Maneuver Dominance team at Costa Mesa to develop and scale Hardware-In-The-Loop capabilities, focusing on software infrastructure, test framework, automation, and tooling for HITL systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the test framework and software infrastructure that bridges SITL to HITL testing
  • Develop logging infrastructure and log-processing tooling for HITL testing
  • Develop diagnostics and telemetry debug capabilities for system state visibility and troubleshooting
  • Develop fault-injection capabilities for controlled failures during testing
  • Build automated tests to evaluate system behavior, fault detection, handling, recovery, and degradation
  • Develop configuration management tracking tools for reproducible HITL configurations
  • Automate HITL health checks, setup, configuration, deployment, and test execution
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for regression testing
  • Establish software and testing best practices for HITL in development and integration lifecycle
  • Support and maintain open-loop and closed-loop HITLs, including hardware, compute, networking, sensors integration
  • Troubleshoot real-time simulation issues during HITL operations (timing, interfaces, model fidelity)
  • Collaborate with software, systems, simulation, and hardware engineers to resolve issues
  • Maintain a safety-first mindset in prototype environments
  • Follow procedures and identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, and efficiency

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or similar) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautics Engineering, or similar
  • Ability to own software infrastructure from development through deployment, testing, and maintenance
  • Experience developing automated test frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, configuration management, and test tooling (logging, diagnostics, debug utilities)
  • Strong proficiency in Python and C++
  • Experience with GitHub
  • Experience developing/operating/maintaining software frameworks for HIL/HITL/Ironbird/System Support Equipment for Group 4 or Group 5 UAS/aerospace/defense vehicle integration and test environment
  • Understanding of software/hardware interfaces, networking, and electrical bus protocols (CAN, Ethernet, RS-232/422/485, MIL-STD-1553)
  • Strong debugging skills across software and hardware boundaries
  • Hands-on experience with electrical systems, harnesses, LRUs, and electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Experience using diagnostic/protocol analysis tools (Saleae Logic Analyzers, Wireshark, PEAK-System CAN interfaces)
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and communication skills

  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a security clearance desirable
