Responsibilities

  • Provide product legal support for APAC launches and enablement across the Payward product suite (e.g., xStocks, OTC options, institutional custody and execution, cross-regional APAC products)

  • Use AI-assisted tools for licensing analysis, regulatory submissions drafts, and matter tracking to increase speed and consistency
  • Own the APAC regulatory workload under the APAC regulatory lead, including licence variations, client/broker agreement documentation, licensing questions, and regulator correspondence
  • Take ownership of geography-specific licensing in markets such as Kazakhstan, Pakistan and the Philippines; supervise local counsel in-region and in time zones; support other APAC markets as they arise
  • Support Payward Group licensing initiatives in key APAC markets (e.g., Singapore, Hong Kong) including preparing application materials and coordinating with outside counsel

Qualifications

  • Qualified lawyer admitted in Singapore, Hong Kong, England and Wales, or an equivalent common law jurisdiction
  • 10+ years PQE in financial services regulatory law, from a regulated financial services institution, law firm, or regulator
  • Demonstrated ability to independently own regulatory relationships and routine regulatory workstreams (notifications, information requests, supervisory correspondence)
  • Strong experience with the financial regulatory landscape in major Asian financial centers (e.g., MAS in Singapore, SFC/HKMA in Hong Kong)
  • Proven ability to instruct/supervise/manage the cost of local counsel across multiple jurisdictions
  • Working knowledge of AML/CTF obligations and regulatory expectations
  • Outstanding analytical, drafting and organizational skills with crisp, plain-English writing
  • Ability to distill complex legal issues into clear guidance for non-lawyer stakeholders
