About the role

Finance & Accounting at Bree seeking an Accounting Lead to own end-to-end accounting, drive a near-term ERP implementation, and build robust financial processes for a growing Canadian fintech startup.

Responsibilities

  • Own AP and AR end to end. Review receipts, resolve discrepancies, chase vendors, and maintain current aging on both accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Bring the journal entries in house. Process recurring and one-off entries with supporting documentation suitable for auditors.
  • Run the close. Manage accruals, account analysis, reconciliations, and working papers for month-end and year-end under ASPE.
  • Produce the statements. Build intercompany financials and the management reporting package for two entities.
  • Take the lead on the ERP implementation. Configure, validate data, test, document, and define workflow in live environment.
  • Automate processes where possible, leveraging LLMs and automation to replace manual steps.
  • Support the audit. Prepare schedules, respond to auditor questions, and collaborate with Controller.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of full-cycle accounting, including owning a month-end close
  • Real ASPE grounding; ability to analyze unusual items and document rationale
  • Multi-entity experience (consolidations, intercompany, two sets of books)
  • Technically literate; proficient in Excel/Google Sheets; SQL or willingness to learn; familiarity with Snowflake/Metabase is a plus
  • CPA is a plus, not required
  • High attention to detail, strong communication, and high agency
