About the role

Thermal Design Engineering Intern at Reality Labs working on systems for VR, AR, Smart Glasses and Wearables, spanning prototype to mass-production with cross-functional collaboration. Focus on heat-transfer fundamentals, CFD tools, and physics-based thermal modeling.

Responsibilities

  • Develop physics-based thermal models using programming languages such as MatLAB, Python, or Julia
  • Develop part and sub-system thermal models using CFD and CAD tools
  • Develop and optimize thermal designs while integrating new thermal technologies through partnering with mechanical and electrical engineers
  • Support sub-system and system-level thermal verification through prototype testing
  • Support the development of thermal control systems while building prototypes to test on physical HW

Qualifications

  • Currently working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with focus on Heat-Transfer / Thermodynamics
  • Background in modeling using CAD and CFD tools
  • Experience in running thermal tests using thermocouples
  • Experience in programming with a scripting language such as MatLab, Python, or Julia, to support development of models and automation tools
  • Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
  • Intent to return to full-time degree program after completion of the internship
