About the role

Senior Revenue Accountant to manage revenue recognition processes (ASC 606/ASC 842), support monthly close, and partner cross-functionally with Sales, Legal, and Finance. Focus on cloud hosting revenue streams and data center leasing arrangements, with responsibility for billing, reconciliations, and process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Review customer contracts for cloud hosting services to ensure ASC 606 compliance (identification of performance obligations, standalone selling price analysis, and revenue recognition timing)
  • Review lease agreements related to data center space and rack leasing to ensure ASC 842 treatment (lease classification, embedded leases, and right-of-use asset/liability assessment)
  • Analyze contract terms and pricing to determine revenue treatment across hosting and leasing arrangements
  • Partner with Sales and Legal during contract drafting/negotiation to enable clean revenue recognition
  • Identify non-standard terms that create recognition complexity or risk
  • Manage and maintain deferred revenue waterfalls/schedules
  • Create, issue, and reconcile monthly customer billings; investigate discrepancies with revenue and cash receipts
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and flux analysis MoM/YoY
  • Utilize Salesforce and NetSuite to manage contract data, billing workflows, and revenue schedules
  • Identify and implement process improvements to reduce manual work in revenue operations and close
  • Review collectability of outstanding invoices under ASC 326 (CECL)
  • Make recommendations regarding customer churn related to non-payment or delinquency
  • Serve as liaison between Accounting, Sales, and Legal on revenue-impacting matters
  • Partner with FP&A on budget-to-actual variance analysis related to revenue
  • Support ad hoc analysis and special projects as requested by management

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience with direct experience in revenue accounting
  • Strong working knowledge of ASC 606 (hosting/subscription/SaaS) and ASC 842 (data center or equipment leasing); familiarity with ASC 326 (CECL) preferred
  • Solid understanding of US GAAP beyond revenue-specific standards
  • Hands-on experience with NetSuite and Salesforce required
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred
  • Experience in SaaS, cloud infrastructure, colocation, or data center environment a plus
  • Experience with SOX compliance a plus
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and written communication skills (including drafting technical accounting memos)
  • Ability to explain accounting concepts to non-accounting stakeholders
  • High attention to detail; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, waterfall modeling); BI/tools (Tableau, Power BI) a plus
  • Experience building/improving deferred revenue and billing processes for hosting/subscription revenue
  • Experience with lease accounting software or lease schedule management for data center/colocation arrangements
  • Prior involvement in audit preparation, PBC schedules, and internal controls; SOX experience a plus
  • Experience mentoring or reviewing junior accounting staff
