What the data says
- The two labs are hiring in opposite directions.OpenAI's open roles are at a high of 713 (+69% since November), while Anthropic's have fallen 19% from a April peak of 478 to 387.
- Both still lead with technical roles. Engineering, research, and product make up 57% of OpenAI's openings and 58% of Anthropic's. The difference is growth rate, not priorities.
- OpenAI is hiring more of everything, go-to-market most of all. It has 224 open GTM roles to Anthropic's 100 (2.2×), though as a share of each board the gap is smaller (31% vs 26%).
