About the role

Staff Data Platform Engineer responsible for designing, building, and scaling the data storage/caching systems to petabyte-scale, and leading retrieval-augmented generation initiatives. Founding member of the data platform team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and scaling of data storage and caching systems to petabyte scale.
  • Spearhead development of retrieval-augmented generation systems.
  • Develop highly efficient caching systems to minimize latency and enable fast data access.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data infrastructure issues to minimize downtime.
  • Pioneer retrieval-augmented generation capabilities within Ambient.ai’s data workflows.

Qualifications

  • Foundational Engineering Leadership with experience architecting, optimizing, and scaling data infrastructure (ideally as a founding/principal engineer).
  • Proven track record architecting/scaling data stores for petabyte-scale data volumes and defining long-term data infrastructure strategy.
  • Advanced caching system design experience for near-instant data access across applications.
  • Hands-on expertise in scaling/managing database systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, OpenSearch).
  • Strong programming skills in Python and C++ with solid software development practices.
  • Familiarity with distributed data processing frameworks and various DBMS to guide technology decisions.
  • Background in retrieval-augmented generation systems and their data workflow applications.
