About the role
Infrastructure Engineer role focused on designing, building, and scaling Mercor's multi-tenant infrastructure and internal platforms to support rapid growth, reliability, and observability across production systems, with a strong emphasis on platform tooling, CI/CD, and cost optimization.
Responsibilities
- Design and build the platforms that sit between our engineers and the outside world: multi-tenant services that give dozens of teams isolated capacity, routing, quotas, and observability on demand, owned from architecture review through production.
- Build the internal platforms and solutions that product and research engineers rely on every day, from deploy tooling to on-call automation, with the same design and testing rigor as customer-facing code.
- Scale our multi-tenant services that fronts every model provider we use, so dozens of internal teams and products get isolated quotas, routing, observability, and capacity on demand without filing a ticket.
- Run Temporal, Postgres, MongoDB, and our Kubernetes fleet at scale and design for the next 10x growth.
- Own the reliability program: define SLOs, reduce noisy alerts, make CI/CD deployments boring, and turn incidents into durable fixes.
- Build the developer platform for an engineering org that ships dozens of times a day, with CI, sandboxes, and deploy pipelines as first-class tooling.
- Design network and identity boundaries across production, preprod, and research compute to enable fast development with reduced cross-environment risk.
- Make the cost picture legible: attribute spend across data centers and inference providers, and identify architectural changes to optimize costs.
- Build tooling that enables self-serve for the rest of engineering, including on-call automation and future automation decisions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field (Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or Statistics)
- 2+ years of relevant industry experience
- Strong fundamentals in reliability and scalability (failure modes, backpressure, idempotency, capacity planning, how distributed systems break under load)
- Experience operating production systems with real users
- Strong software engineering fundamentals: design before you build, Python or Go, testing, code reviews
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform)
- Working knowledge of containers; Kubernetes experience is a plus
- High ownership and ability to propose, ship, and own improvements
