About the role

Substack is hiring a Full Stack Software Engineer for the Payments team to build core payment surfaces and backend systems, own features end-to-end, and work with TypeScript (Node/Express, React), Postgres, and payment processors (Stripe). The role focuses on subscriptions payments, payout systems, and features like gift subscriptions, with a small, high-impact team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the core payment surfaces and backend systems on Substack.
  • Own your work and deliver high-quality solutions from product concept and proposal to implementation, experimentation, and measurement.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of software engineering experience, including building and shipping web applications.
  • Independent and autonomous. Strong product sense and intuition.
  • Passionate about building a better business model for the internet.
