About the role

Senior Data Platform Engineer to join Bitvavo's Data Platform team, building a self-service data platform to enable teams to ship data pipelines, ML/AI products, and ensure scalable, secure, and compliant data infrastructure with a cloud-first, IaC-driven approach.

Responsibilities

  • Build and evolve a self-service Data Platform that enables teams to easily and reliably ship data pipelines, ML and AI products.
  • Design scalable infrastructure for data ingestion, processing, and consumption, covering batch, real-time analytics, agents, dashboards and reporting.
  • Empower the organization with AI-assisted tools and automation to accelerate development, reduce toil, and improve reliability across the stack.
  • Own and maintain secure, compliant data infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code, with a strong bias toward automation over manual process.
  • Continuously extend the platform to support emerging use cases in machine learning and generative AI, keeping pace with how teams want to use data.
  • Mentor teammates by sharing technical knowledge, providing constructive feedback, and raising the bar on engineering excellence.

Qualifications

  • Experience in tech companies or scale-ups, to deliver impact from Day 1
  • Experience with one or more programming languages. We primarily use Python (Java is a plus)
  • Strong understanding of data engineering principles, including distributed data processing, stream processing, and data storage systems
  • Fluency in using infrastructure as code tools (like Terraform) and container orchestration platforms (like Kubernetes) in a cloud-first environment
  • Exceptional communication skills. We expect engineers to take ownership of their work end-to-end and proactively communicate with stakeholders
  • High sense of ownership and accountability. We value engineers who take initiative and advocate for the long-term health of our data ecosystem
