About the role

Infrastructure-focused role at Railway responsible for building the knobs and tooling that power the Railway platform, enabling users to scale internal operations and the company. Emphasizes high-ownership, autonomy, and delivering high-leverage infrastructure solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Built application level code (Golang, GRPC, Postgres, etc)
  • Made use of OS primitives (syscalls, cgroups, etc)
  • Delivered projects 0→N and scaled them
  • Operated with agency and urgency (bonus points if remotely)
  • Shipped for today, designed for 10x, and engineered for 100x in 18mo
  • Communicated clearly using RFCs/Docs to break down large tasks
  • Oncall and aware of 1-2 weeks per quarter
  • Constructed monitoring, alerts, and dashboards
  • Built the confidence to say no to 99% of things and deliver the 1% that matter

Qualifications

  • Built application level code (Golang, GRPC, Postgres, etc)
  • Made use of OS primitives (syscalls, cgroups, etc)
  • Delivered projects 0→N. Lead it, scaled it, seen your “brilliant solutions” become tech debt
  • Operated with agency and urgency
  • Had enough foresight to ship for today, design for 10x, and engineer for 100x in 18mo
  • Communicated clearly using RFCs/Docs to break up + deliver large, nebulous tasks
  • Been oncall and know that you will be 1-2 weeks per quarter
  • Constructed monitoring, alerts, and dashboards to notify you before things break
  • Built the confidence to say no to 99% of things, and the grit to deliver the 1% that matter
