About the role

Lead backend architecture and engineering at Paytm, driving scalable systems, AI integration, and engineering excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Design scalable architectures and lead technology-first projects.
  • Drive backend systems supporting 100M+ DAUs, optimize APIs for sub-50ms latencies.
  • Actively use AI tools to accelerate architecture design, code reviews, prototyping, and developer productivity.
  • Mentor engineers, review code, and push for engineering best practices.

Qualifications

  • 6-8 years of hands-on backend engineering experience — Java, Spring Boot, AWS.
  • Proven ownership of high-scale distributed systems.
  • Deep knowledge of microservices, messaging systems, caching, storage optimization, and cloud scalability.
  • Clear architectural thinking for billions of transactions.
  • AI-first mindset — familiarity with GPT and AI coding tools.
  • Strong leadership skills — mentoring, code reviewing.
