Staff Software Engineer role at Peregrine to lead technical initiatives, drive impactful projects, and mentor a high-performing team within a cross-functional, user-centered engineering environment.

Responsibilities

  • Drive impactful work delivering value to customers (e.g., helping emergency responders during a hurricane, diffusing complex organized crime)
  • Develop a high-performing team and guide them through complex technical challenges
  • Own large portions of the application from start to finish
  • Lead technical decision-making and ensure alignment with business priorities
  • Collaborate with design, product management, deployment team, and users to iterate and solve problems
  • Contribute to building robust, scalable backend and frontend systems across the stack

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience with cross-functional software development teams
  • Experience shipping and iterating on production-grade software components (professional or open-source)
  • Ability to write robust, well-tested, well-designed code frequently deployed to users
  • Solid understanding of architecting and scaling distributed software systems
  • Strong best practices in modern software development and comfort with large codebases
  • Located in NYC and able to work in office
