About the role

Strategic design leadership role focusing on defining long-term design vision and product strategy for a pillar, balancing hands-on craft with team leadership in a fast-growing fintech environment.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Partner directly with Founders, VPs, and Product Directors to define and drive the long-term design vision and product strategy for a specific pillar.
  • Hands-On Craft: Lead by example, creating process flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups that set the standard for quality.
  • Team Building & Mentorship: Build, lead, and mentor a team of 2-3 designers, elevating their craft and guiding career growth.
  • Cross-Functional Influence: Champion the value of design across the organization, collaborating with Engineering, Product, and Data leads to make design a strategic driver.
  • System & Scale: Evolve design system to support rapid scaling while maintaining consistency and quality across a growing product suite.
  • Design Operations: Establish and refine design processes from discovery to delivery to ensure speed and precision.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of product design experience in early-stage, high-growth startup environments.
  • Proven ability to lead design teams and hire, mentor, and manage designers.
  • Portfolio demonstrating UX/UI excellence with systems thinking, information architecture, and prototyping complex workflows.
  • Executive presence with experience presenting to and debating with C-level executives; ability to articulate business value of design decisions.
  • Strong ability to switch between strategic planning and hands-on design work (Figma and modern design tools).
  • Iterative mindset balancing quality with speed (v1, v2, v3) and ability to navigate Now, Next, Later.
