About the role

Principal CFD Engineer (Delivery) focused on building and delivering high-fidelity CFD/CAES solutions, integrating simulation with AI tools, and mentoring junior staff. The role involves on-site customer engagement, multi-physics modeling, CAD-based parametric design, automation, and collaboration with data science teams, with travel and potential progression to IC or TL.

Responsibilities

  • Independently building complex multi-physics models from geometry clean-up and meshing to simulating and post-processing complex real-world phenomena, integrating experimental data for model validation.
  • Building robust parametric CAD models (NX or CATIA) coupled with simulation pipeline automation for advanced design optimization and DoE studies.
  • Partnering with customers to address engineering challenges through advanced CAE & AI solutions; presenting results, recommending actionable next steps, balancing accuracy with efficiency under tight deadlines.
  • Working at the intersection of CAE and Data Science to generate high-quality simulation datasets for training Machine/Deep Learning models; employing data sampling techniques to optimize design space exploration and model accuracy.
  • Accelerating high-fidelity modelling by using Flux (cloud platform) and on-premise HPC resources to achieve real performance gains.
  • Continuously improving engineering best practices, adapting CFD model setups and outputs to support the development of Deep Learning surrogates.
  • Combining project leadership with mentoring junior colleagues to foster collaboration and growth.
  • Travel globally (North America, Europe, Asia, Oceania) up to 2–3 weeks per quarter to work on-site with customers.
  • As the role evolves, opportunities for growth as an Individual Contributor (IC) or Team Lead (TL).

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of industry experience (post Masters or PhD) in a commercial, non-research environment.
  • Deep expertise in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and multiphase modelling.
  • Proficiency in Star-CCM+, OpenFOAM, or Fluent; ability to automate these tools to create scalable optimisation workflows.
  • Experience in parametric CAD modelling (NX or CATIA).
  • Coding in Python/Java, or ability to quickly learn programming languages.
