About the role

Backend-focused software engineer role at Affirm, responsible for APIs used by partners and merchants to integrate with Affirm, including work with major partners like Amazon and Stripe.

Responsibilities

  • Break down larger projects into tasks and deliver in phases with team support.
  • Collaborate with product management, design and analytics throughout the product lifecycle; articulate constraints and trade-offs.
  • Support operations and availability of team artifacts; monitor metrics and participate in on-call efforts.
  • Contribute to team community and growth through activities such as participating in the interview process.

Qualifications

  • Total of 1.5+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems; proficient in Python or Kotlin.
  • Familiar with distributed systems and technologies like AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes.
  • Experience designing, developing and launching APIs at scale using Python or Kotlin.
  • Ability to translate simple problems into multi-component solutions with clear, well-tested, extensible code.
  • Comfortable navigating large codebases, debugging others' code, and providing feedback via code reviews.
  • Demonstrated ownership of growth and proactive seeking of feedback from team, manager, and stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with global engineering team.
  • Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
