About the role

Founding Web Platform Engineer responsible for building Netic's frontend platform, design system, and component library to serve multiple product teams with scalable, coherent, accessible, and fast UI foundations that support AI-driven product surfaces for essential services.

Responsibilities

  • Build the Design System and Component Library: Define tokens, primitives, patterns; build a reusable component library; own accessibility and theming; maintain coherence as the company grows.
  • Create Frontend Platform Primitives with Leverage: Build app shell, routing conventions, auth/session handling, typed API clients, data-fetching patterns, form and table frameworks, and state primitives for product teams to compose features.
  • Treat Product Engineers as Customers: Partner with product and engineering teams; design intuitive, well-documented APIs and components; provide office hours, RFCs, migration guides to ease adoption.
  • Own Build, Performance, and Client Observability: Manage Next.js build pipeline, bundle size, Core Web Vitals, error tracking, client-side logging, feature-flag/experimentation plumbing; optimize rendering strategy and caching for product needs.
  • Set Frontend Platform Direction: Define long-term architecture, build-vs-buy decisions, evolution of design system, monorepo vs multi-app strategy, and scaling as surface area grows.

Qualifications

  • Frontend Platform Experience: Proven production web app experience; ownership of design system, component library, or core frontend abstraction used by multiple product teams; deep React and TypeScript; strong Next.js experience (App Router, RSC, rendering tradeoffs).
  • Design System Craft: Built or substantially contributed to a real design system with tokens, primitives, accessibility baseline, documentation, and adoption strategy.
  • Abstraction Thinking: Ability to design stable APIs, hooks, and contracts supporting rapid iteration; know when to generalize.
  • Operational Rigor: Experience with frontend performance, observability (e.g., Sentry/Datadog), bundle analysis, migrations across many consumers, production readiness.
  • Ownership Mentality: Responsible for long-term outcomes, developer experience, and downstream impact.
