About the role

Freelance Linguist specializing in Telugu language translation, review, and quality assurance, supporting localization and linguistic quality processes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform translations, review, and quality assurance of Telugu translation tasks.
  • Perform copy-editing and linguistic checks to ensure accuracy, consistency, and style adherence.
  • Provide feedback to translators and freelancers to improve overall quality.
  • Manage and maintain language assets (glossaries, style guides, work instructions).
  • Manage and respond to linguistic queries from translators, project managers, etc.
  • Ensure smooth collaboration within the translation team by clarifying terminology, style, and linguistic issues.
  • Support onboarding, development, and training of new linguists and freelancers.
  • Participate in the development of new review and quality processes.
  • Meet or exceed quality and productivity KPIs.
  • Achieve goals set by Squad Lead / Language Lead.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Translation, Applied Languages, Linguistics, or an equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience in translation, review, or localization.
  • Native fluency in Telugu (India).
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).
  • Solid understanding of localization process and review workflows.
  • Proficiency in standard software (Windows, MS Office).
  • Hands-on experience with CAT tools (e.g., XTM, SDL Studio, Polyglot, Mate Cat, ATMS, fbCAT).
  • Experience with query/issue management tools (e.g., JIRA).
