About the role

Lead the design, engineering, and testing of Xometry's recovery and cyber resilience capabilities. Own the Isolated Recovery Environment, drive Infrastructure as Code standards, and run hands-on recovery exercises to ensure rapid, secure restoration from cyber incidents.

Responsibilities

  • Own Our Recovery Architecture: Design and build the Isolated Recovery Environment in a hardened AWS account with immutable vaults; threat model cloud-native attack patterns; validate and improve backup configurations for recoverability.
  • Standardize and Automate Infrastructure: Lead transition to 100% Infrastructure as Code using Terraform; build automated recovery workflows to tear down and bootstrap clean environments; write executable recovery playbooks with API/CLI steps.
  • Validate, Test, and Lead Exercises: Develop automated smoke tests for recovered data; lead regular hands-on recovery drills with after-action reviews and improvements.
  • Drive Engineering Standards: Act as resilience authority within engineering; shape high-availability decisions; collaborate with SRE on multi-region deployments; champion IaC and immutable infrastructure across teams.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in complex cloud environments (AWS/GCP/Azure), including at least 3 years in AWS
  • EKS/Kubernetes experience is a strong plus
  • Strong Terraform skills with ability to modularize complex environments
  • Hands-on familiarity with Secure Vault pattern in a separate highly restricted AWS account
  • Advanced shell scripting and proficiency in Python or Go
  • Experience with CI/CD tooling (e.g., Scalr, GitHub Actions)
  • Proven ability to engineer and automate end-to-end restoration workflows
