About the role

The Irish Translator role is central to Welocalize's success, focusing on software localization and technical translation to bring IT products to global audiences. The role involves translation, editing, and supporting quality and process improvements, with opportunities for career growth in language and management positions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform translations in various translation tools for assigned clients and projects
  • Translate different content types such as marketing, help, UI, or regulated content
  • Support the team with copy-edit tasks on selected content types
  • Master standard CAT tools and related tools for translation and internal processes
  • Follow established translation processes, including raising queries when needed
  • Adhere to style guides and client requirements
  • Incorporate feedback from senior team members and reviewers to improve quality
  • Maintain error statistics and work on areas of weakness
  • Participate in training sessions and error arbitration processes
  • Meet KPIs for productivity, on-time delivery, and quality
  • Attend quality meetings and calls organized by the team and clients
  • Analyze personal gaps and seek assistance from senior team members
  • Achieve goals set by the team manager

Qualifications

  • University degree in Translation/Applied Languages or equivalent experience
  • Native-level proficiency in Irish and English, both written and spoken
  • 2-4 years of relevant translation/localization/editing/content writing experience
  • Good understanding of localization process
  • Proficiency with Windows, Office, and CAT tools
  • Ability to learn new localization tools quickly
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and present information effectively
  • Problem-solving skills and adaptability in variable situations
  • Ability to interpret written, oral, and visual instructions
  • Motivated, versatile, fast learner, capable of remote teamwork
